My Little Pony Birthday Cake

Happy Birthday to my daughter's sweet friend Ella who just turned two!  Her mom picked a cake online, and I did my {best} to copy it.  Buttercream base with fondant accents and some buttercream details.  Her mom bought lollipops and a pony for the topper.

Baby Girl Carriage Cake

A very simple cake for a baby shower, made to match the baby carriage print of the paper goods.

Butterfly Birthday Cake

This cake was for a sweet girl who wanted black and purple on her cake!  Her mom chose the butterfly theme, and we decided to add in a little pink as well.  Buttercream base with fondant accents, as well as buttercream details.  Oh, and some of the back detail on the butterflies is royal icing, which isn't ideal for cake decorating, but I had it made up for something else, so I decided to try it.  :)

Baby Girl Pink & Brown Cake

This cake was for a friend's baby shower.  It has a buttercream base, with fondant accents.
The fondant curlies were made ahead of time by cutting strips of fondant and winding it around a form.  I let them dry for a couple of days and then placed on top of the cake.

Baby Boy Converse Cake

I had so much fun making the little converse shoes for this cake.  (The feet cutouts weren't my favorite...I attempted to use cookie cutters, and they looked like alien feet!)
The cake was a buttercream base with fondant embellishments.  Then a little buttercream detail on top of the fondant.  The brown icing and fondant is chocolate flavored.  Adding cocoa to the icing helps achieve the brown color without having to add a ton of color.

I used plastic shoe forms to get the shape of the converse, but everything else is fondant.  Edible ink pens helped me with the logo...one day I will get a food safe printer....one day!

Safari Baby Shower (the 2nd one)

This cake was for a friend's baby shower.  She did her nursery in safari animals, so I wanted to match the cake.  But I decided to do a different safari cake than the one I did here.
The bottom tier is a buttercream base, with Wilton Sugar Sheets overlaid for the zebra print.  In retrospect, I don't like the sugar sheets on the entire layer.  It's okay for embellishments, but I had to piece it together too much to cover the entire cake.
The top tier is all buttercream...I just freehanded the giraffe spots.
All of the embellishments are fondant, with a little buttercream "grass" thrown in!  My friend was wowed and loved this cake!!

A closeup of the animals...

The back of the cake...lots of flowers and butterflies on the back.
